Note-worthy Galactic Powers in the Augur Rift:

The Augur Rift is a serene set of space turned into an all-out war zone. Many groups have flocked from around the Galaxy to get involved in this conflict.

These are all who can be found within the Augur Rift during the Roleplay:

Confederate Provinces of Augur (C.P.A.):
The catalyst of the Augur Rift Conflict, the C.P.A. is the newest galactic faction, even younger than the Ohrian Kingdom in the southeast. Technically a coalition of smaller nations based upon species, the Confederate Provinces rebelled from Typhon control only five thousand years ago, leading to the Yin support of their nation against an old foe. Meanwhile, the Typhon would recruit others to join their fight to reclaim the Augur Rift from the C.P.A., while others would simply want to see both sides burn or be consumed.

With their limited millitaries, the C.P.A. struggles to remain free, even with Yin and Irden support.

Yin Empire:
One of the dominant forces of the Northern parts of the galaxy, The Yin Empire stretches across swathes of four major spirals, including the one which the Augur Rift is located in. Their land is split by the Communion and a plethora of small groups that vied for power fifteen thousand years ago, during the Yin Empire's greatest rebellion, known only as the Great Yan.

Now, they are well equpped to fight any foes on their- or their allies'- borders.

Republic of Irden:
Founded from the remnants of an ancient galaxy spanning empire, the Republic of Irden is in fact a Democratic Monarchy, their current queen working besides several councils that dictate her limitations. When the Yin Empire discovered the Republic eighteen thousand years ago, they were under the slavery of a brutal race of pirates known as the Holfen. The forces of the Empire were successful in driving back and containing the Holfen threat, and allowed the Republic of Irden to continue as a protectorate under it. This is why, whenever the Empire calls upon them, the Irdenfolk are quick to respond, respecting their ancient saviors and their Empire's rule.

Knights of Humanity:

When the Republic of Irden was placed under the protection of the Yin Empire, many of the Irdenfolk saw this as simply an exchange of oppressors, freeing the people from bloodthirsty savages unto a totalitarian government that required their total consent. With this, the rise of xenophobia began around the lower echelons of Irden society, as they saw aliens weave themselves further and further to be a fundamental part of the Republic. Eventually, a single man would rise to unite the downtrodden peoples, leading them to rebel against the Republic and the survivors to be banished, exhiled into the deepest space. There, they would find pristine, untouched worlds, and the Knights of Humanity were born.

In the Augur Rift, the Knights come for the anarchy, for the chance to spill the blood of the alien, and to gain favor under their High Lord, Strelin. What he seeks is unknown, but it is thought to be more than just bloodshed...

Typhon Conglomerate:
The original rulers of the Augur Rift, the Conglomerate is an oligarchy based solely upon garnered territories and wealth, and work off the labor of mainly enslaved/indentured races. However, the Potrosi do work beside another race, known as the Ynari, as coworkers in the schemes of the Conglomerate. Initially, the Typhon broke from the Yin Empire during the Great Yan, immediately making the Potrosi, who incited the rebellion of the Conglomerate and quickly took control, foes. They have always been fighting on the Yin's westernmost frontiers, but as the Augur Rift rebelled, the Typhon knew they could not lose more ground to the Empire.

Heading the assault, amongst the enslaved penal forces, is the Emerald Legion, lead by Thronelord Esseleth, otherwise known as the Godslayer for killing a Communion Machine God. His legion knows no retreat, and shall know none until its end.

Fallen Veilon:
The tainted remnants of an ancient race, the Fallen Veilon (otherwise known as the Aldir) are a race of marauding pirates, seeking to cause high-speed mayhem in the name of the Stargod. While less puritanical than the Starpraisers, the Aldir are faithful to their god, flaying foes alive after taking them alive.

The leaders of the Fallen Veilon in the Augur Rift Conflict are the Over-Lead Ferrsin, and her guard, the construct known as Venator Invictus. For these Aldir, the scrap and the flesh of the fallen fighters, as well as a chance to join into the mayhem, is well enough for many of the pirates to join the Over-lead in her ransacking of the Augur Rift.

Keer:
First seen arriving five thousand years ago, the Keer are an extragalactic plague upon the galaxy, a hive mind of immense proportions, being thought to span hundreds of billions of light years of space outside the galaxy, and that the forces seen in the galaxy are just the tip of an iceberg of teeth and claws. Using only biomechanical and evolved weaponry, the Keer flood worlds with different biologically engineered forms, ranging from multi-armed giants to six winged horrors. These are then used to rid a world of all nutrients and minerals, leaving it a hollowed out, lifeless rock, before moving on to the next world to continue the mind's expansion.

It has been rumored that Keer fleets have been spotted over uninhabited worlds. It is unknown why they are in the Augur Rift, but the Empire declares that they shall not stay.

Starpraisers:
The followers of a galaxy spanning church, the Starpraisers are the second superpower of the galaxy, rivaling the Yin Empire in armaments and power. They range in all shapes and sizes, but are all heavily devout in their worship and fight for their god, known mysteriously under a slew of names, but colloquially named the Stargod. Their weapons are consistently either grown from living creatures, malformed appendages onset by the 'light of the stars', a mutation process common in Starpraiser society, or formed from the bone/chitin of old foes, imbued with ancient and awesome powers.

Currently, the Starpraisers in the Augur Rift are being lead by the Holy Queen known as Lord Nox, but rumor has it that another queen, the Triage, is expected to supply additional forces to the conflict. Why they seek the Augur Rift is unknown, but ancient monoliths do lie upon some of the Rift's older worlds, and are inscribed with languages that can only be compared to those of Starpraisers.

Communion of Technology:
Born from rebelling artificial intelligences during the Great Yan, the Communion quickly developed into a multitude of different territories, all ruled under by different 'Machine Gods' as they like to call themselves. Their forces, while limited, are exceptionally advanced, the most advocate of whom can seemingly manipulate matter to their will.

In the rift, the Communion, oddly enough, supports the Typhon Conglomerate in combatting the Yin Empire. This sudden switch of sides is perplexing, made even further so by the fact that the forces involved in the conflict are not supported by a Machine God, but by several Overseer units, all of whom have sworn their allegiances away from their respective gods.

Triffidae:
An ancient race, the Triffid are strangely new to the galactic theatre. Before their wars began, they slowly lulled along, their massive chunks of asteroid or desolate shipwrecks would eventually seed new worlds, allowing the Triffidae to 'connect' with nature via some sort of hive mentality with unknown properties. Then, twenty thousand years ago, they would discover the beings that would plague them for the eternity onwards: the Florids. These beings sought only to continue their life cycle, which involves wiping a world of flora and replacing it with spore-based ecosystems. Naturally, the hivemind of the Triffidae would not allow for this, and ever since, the Florid and Triffid have fought an endless stalemate.

The only reason the Triffids are involved in the conflict is due to the placement of several Triffid-populated worlds inside the Rift, one of which was razed by the Emerald Legion. Action needed to be taken, and a Cranial Anchor was sent out, an army under it to command.

Alarrin Defense Federation (A.D.F.):
The Alarrin are heavy-set crustacean-like beings, and are heavily against working with most groups in the Galaxy, seeing the destruction and devastation that befalls the other factions. So, when the Yin Empire discovered the Alarrin seventeen thousand years ago, the crustaceans fought for their sovereignty, eventually winning it in a brutal five-hundred year war. The lives lost on both sides were innumerable. This has further increased their hostility to relations with other empires, leaving the A.D.F. a blip in the midst of many other larger groups, like the Holfen and Harvesters to the east, or the Knights to the north. However, their stone-wall defenses and strict border policies nearly always halt invaders before they have a chance.

In the Augur Rift, a diplomatic fleet, headed by an Admiral Shul-chek, has been finally released from the A.D.F. into the care of the Yin Empire, who wish to smooth over relations with the Alarrin in order to possibly find new trade partners and examine their technologies. It is now down to the decisions of the Empire to see this through.

Playable Species:

Human:

You know what a human is, as you are one (hopefully).

Yin:

Sole controllers of the Yin Empire, the Yin are humanoid, with a standard 4 limbs, upwards walk, and forwards-facing eyes as a human would. However, this is where the similarities to humanity end. On average, Yin stand about a foot or so taller than their human counterparts. On each hand, they have three fingers and one thumb, oddly on the opposite side as a human's hand. Their faces are broad and their eyes large, while also lacking a nose, instead bearing two slits for nostrils, and instead of ears have a bump with a hole on either side of its head. Their skin can range from a sickly yellow to a near-crimson red.

Yin culture is based around honor and the many over the few. To be given proper burial rights, all Yin must serve within one of the many branches of the Empire's  military, so the race itself has become war-minded and nationalistic.

Holfen:

Usually pirates and savages, Holfens are brutes among the other races of the galaxy. Standing on average 7 and a half feet tall, they have six limbs, which include two long arms and two small, grubby arms, adapted for better manipulation of objects. Their legs, jointed similarity to an insect, end in two, large clawed toes, but are slightly shorter than their arms. A Holfen's face is reminiscent of crabs, with four, toothy mandibles that form a flat surface on the creature when closed, though this part of their anatomy is hidden behind masks that allow for breathing, as their homeworld's atmosphere is nearly irreplaceable. On the sides of their head, they have four beady eyes, allowing for near 360-degree vision.

While a strict code of conduct is coordinated amongst the clans of Holfen, and most are agreed against the Yin, some Clans have either fallen to infighting or external issues, or have simply allowed themselves to be absorbed into the Empire, serving as auxiliary forces or bounty hunters.

Vas'quani:

A race of unknown descent, the Vas'quani, otherwise known as Ven, are slender humanoids, on average standing shoulder to shoulder with the average human.Their skin, a pale blue, is slightly transparent, revealing the black musculature of the Ven. Their hands, while looking vaguely human, have three fingers and two thumbs, having one on either side of its hand. The head of a Vas'quani is a bulbous, light set one, in little contrast to the rest of its body. It has two eyes, similar to those of frogs. Unlike most races, the Ven have the ability to create what is known as psionic fluxes, manipulating matter by using gravity wells produced in some way or another through the mind. While it is thought this behavior is connected to he Starpraisers' god, there are no documented cases of Vas'quani being corrupted by the Stargod's light, so it is unclear how the Ven can do such things. Psionic Fluxes also are arduously hard to achieve without years of practice and focus. However, thanks to the average lifespan of the Ven ranging into 300, giving a few years to train is nothing.

Ven culture is rather vague, with some sects believing in multiple gods while some believe in none. However, this does not divide their peoples, and only seems to strengthen their bonds, emphasizing their differences among their kind. While most seem to want to enkindle a peace within the Galaxy, seeing it as their 'Grand Purpose', others will see peace as something that can only be attained by a fire of immense proportions raining down upon all who seek war. While these are both ends of the spectrum, there are, of course, Vas'quani that do not follow such extreme beliefs. These groups are inclined to join the Yin Empire's bulk, either as auxiliaries, workers, or simple citizens under a protecting Empire.

Heliakoran:

The only race within the C.P.A. having independently held off the Emerald Legion for several years, the Heliakoria are a race of humanoids similar in stature to earth reptiles, with scales and scutes covering their bodies. Their eyes, pupils slits, are heavily adapted to work in Helikora Prime's dim light and pitch black nights. They stand about 6 feet tall, with broad shoulders and a crocodile-like set of jaws. Their scales range from a mottled grey to a vibrant green. Their hands, grubby and short, end in four clawed fingers, and two horned thumbs

While their appearance may be aggressive and primitive, the Helikorians are heavily endowed in their defensive styles. Their cities, going vertically rather than expanding outwards, are easier to defend than the average city. The general stance of an Helikoran is to speak softly and carry a big stick. Most of the reptilians' weaponry involves heavy, blunt weapons, sometimes amplified through mechanical means.

Re: The Queen's Bane (OOC)

Post by Kiora on Sun Oct 08, 2017 2:20 pm

(Finally, I'm done with work. Now I can settle down to write.)

Name: Jeya Voraxx

Gender:
Female

Height: 1.76 meters (~5'7)

Weight: 75 kgs (~165 lbs)

Species: Human

Faction:
Bounty Hunter

Physical Description: Jeya is a green-eyed vixen with feathered black hair. She stands in a slightly above-average height and has European facial features. She wears a grey trench coat and black leggings- a generally dark outfit which fits her job well, and although it makes her stand out a little it still declares her role and strikes fear in the hearts of her enemies.

Personality: Jeya doesn't have the most righteous job in the world but it pays well. She is in fact quite a decent person but she simply denies to show it until said person gains her trust. Her personality consists of a spicy, stingy behavior but also a more softer and familiar side.

Backstory: Growing up in one of the wealthiest districts of Irden, Jeya's parents fortunately had the funds to invest in their daughter's physical training. They wanted to send her to work in the military, but in a swift change of plans she enlisted in the local bounty-hunting guild, which was similar to her parents' plan but not exactly the same idea. They eventually accepted it as it is and let Jeya go out to the world. Since then, she spans the galaxy in search of fortune and justice.

Equipment: In ranged situations, Jeya uses a powerful revolver that can pierce heavy armor but is a little sluggish. When it comes to closer encounters, she sports a lasso that with a press of a button lights up with electricity and can cut various materials. She also has a whip when the lasso isn't viable and a combat knife when necessary.

Name: Witnam Levver

Gender: Male

Height: 5' 8''

Weight: 150 lbs

Species: Human

Faction: Irden/Yin Empire

Physical Description: A very young man, Witnam's face, bearing European features, is soft compared to older soldiers of the Republic, the only blemishes being a spot of freckles. He has blue eyes, a blunt nose, and brown hair.

Personality: Being new to the Republic's tithes, Witnam is exceptionally eager to help fend off the enemies of the Empire. He is also extremely gullible and easy to trick, being a rookie to the Rift, after all.

Backstory: Born from the slums of a Republic Garden World, Witnam was born into farming. Whether it be maintaining the sprinklers to fending off the world's ravenous pests, Witnam was devoted to his people. So, it was no surprise when on his 18th birthday, Levver joined the Irden Tithe of troops for the Yin Empire. For a year, he trained on another world, before he and the chosen platoons were sent as another round into the Augur Rift campaign.

Equipment: Though being of Irden, all tithes are equipped with standard-fit Yin equipment. This means he wears the Yellow and Orange armor of the Yin Military, as well as a standard-built assault pulse-repeater. He also brings a small knife with him, originating from his homeworld, a gift from his parents before he left.

Name: Mordeci Smith

Gender: Male

Height: 5'6

Weight: 134 lbs

Species: Human

Faction: Knights of Humanity

Physical Description:

Personality:
Cold, calculating, and aloof. Mordeci lives by the ideals of divine right, believing that other races lack souls and therefore, all in the universe belongs to humanity. His ideals are seen as extreme even among his allies, as even in the simplest cases he prefers to simply kill or seriously maim anything not human.

To other humans, he is polite, and chivalrous. He wouldn't hesitate to leap into action at the defense of another human, especially against an alien. His hatred isn't blind however- He will suppress it if it means working towards a common goal, even if it means betrayal in the end.
Backstory:

Mordeci was raised in secrecy, a bastard to his father and his many conquests. Kept from the public, he learned to hate aliens and other such things. he never resented his father for his existence. What he did resent was his brother. A more liberal mind in the realm of politics, his brother spoke out against subjugation and murder of aliens, which was purely against what his family had stood for for years. So his father made him an offer.

Arrange for his half-brother, Jacob, to be killed by an alien, and his father would legitimize him in the eyes of the High Lord. And so, Mordeci set forth to do so. He found an assassin, an alien one, and hired him with a good chunk of cash to murder his brother. Soon, in the next few days, the deed was done. not wanting to be associated with an alien when he was legitimized, he arranged a meeting for extra payment, where he killed the alien when it arrived.

In the next month, he was legitimized, and announced the heir to the Smith family and all of it's holdings. His mother, grief stricken by her only true son's death, fell from her balcony, dying. Mordeci himself, who had become close with his half-brother, was ridden with guilt for what he had done, but eventually, he came to the conclusion that it had to be done, for the good of humanity.
